Hi there

I'm new to this forum.

I've just adopted a 7 year old FIV+ cat. His name is Toby.

I was brought up with cats, but this is the first one of my very own. I only got him yesterday and I'm quite nervous and very keen to do the right thing, considering his diagnosis.

He was born with the virus and at the moment is in excellent health and is showing no symptoms.

If anyone has any tips on how to care for a FIV+ cat I would much appreciate it. :)

Bless your heart for taking this cat in! Such a pretty cat.

I don't have any advice, but you'll get plenty of help from other members.

Considering the fact that you took that pic within one day of acquiring him, he looks QUITE happy! Great job! Cute kitty!

Congratulations and welcome!
He sure does look at home already and matches the decore too! :D
I'd also recommened you keep him indoors and as stress free as possilbe. Give him the best nutrition you can (ie: pimarily canned with meat as the first ingredient -no by products and low or no grains. I'd would give supplements too.
You may want to post in H&N and see what others have to say. Also the sticky on Wet vs, Dry has a lot of really good general nutritional info.
He's just gorgeous! :D
