He looks like like a young, fit, short hair. A little nervous eh? I have heard that it is best to put them in a small room, if possible, until they settle down a bit. Food, water, litter box, some pillows to lay on. We have only had our kitty 3 days and we let her have full run of the house immediately and then put her in a smaller room for a while. We saw her patrolling and marking everywhere and we saw that it was a little overwhelming for her, so we researched and then put her in the small room. She is just resting now instead of having to patrol and mark a large territory.

Yeah...he is a little nervous. He parked himself between the fridge and a wall. He'll look when you call his name, but he won't budge. I put his food and water in the area, but I need to go down there and place a blanket out for him. I hope he'll be okay down there :sad:.

He's acting perfectly normal for a new cat in the house. (I would put his litter box nearby, too.)

I love those soft colors, he looks like a lovely little kitty. You could spend a little time down there, sitting nearby, reading or something. He'll come out when he's ready.

I placed his litter box in the kitchen closer to the back door...his food & water is in the kitchen too, but closer to the dining room...I went down and put a soft quilt out for him near his butt by the fridge, but he just looks and meows. I just noticed how pretty his eyes are...they're almost a perfect match to his gray coat. Hope he'll be okay down there. :sad

Some cats stay hidden for 24 hours or so.

You have to look at it from their point of view - he's in a strange place with a HUGE giant. :grin: He'll be okay.

Zoe is probably wondering if he'll be OK anywhere but the safe place he's parked his bottom! He'll learn soon that he is.

With the two I adopted I just turned them loose and left them to it. As well, I opened all doors, including closets for them to explore. My understanding is that cats like to check things out to make sure there's nothing scary hiding anywhere. Zenobi (otb) took a couple of days, at least and apparently spent the night on my computer chair. The only thing I did was to keep a check on her, but not bother her. Missy did find herself a hiding place, but soon came out. They both were seniors when I adopted.

I'm pretty sure he will make it home soon, and claim everything yours, including yourself, to be his property!

PS: I always thought "Zoe" is a girl's name? But, well, I have a male co-worker named Kelly...
