Thought others might enjoy these pictures. We put peanuts out for the birds and squirrels, and the kitten, Sophie, loves to lie in the storm door and watch them. She's in full predator mode, ears down, back claws ready to dig in, ready to launch for the attack. Amusing to watch, but kind of brings home the reality that our babies are predators.

Cute pictures! I love how she's laying so flat to hide from being seen.
Don't kid yourself, cats are killing machines.
When I was a kid my sister and I found an injured bird, well we brought it home not thinking about the 1/2 grown kitten, as soon we got in the door kitty saw the bird and went bonkers.
The bird flew from my sister's hand into the air and kitty leap after it and batted out of the air from about 6 feet high, bird was dead before it hit the ground.
This all happen in the space of less then 5 seconds.
Couldn't really be mad at kitty and felt rather guilty bringing the bird within kitty's reach.
I had a new found respect for the hunting prowess of the humble house cat.
What we found so amusing was the ears. Our other cats like to watch the birds too, but she's getting those ears down, minimizing her profile.
So cute!

My cat does the same thing . . . but only to leaves. She is oblivious to birds and other animals.
Wow, look at her.

I've never seen our two react to birds, but they are quite good with our hamsters. That being said, I wouldn't want to leave them alone together!

You have lovely birds in your garden too, the most we see are doves, blackbirds and sparrows.
