I think she is doing ok as far as her surgery recovery, however Minnie has always been a very nervous cat and she isnt all that freindly. Ever since I picked her up from the clinic she has been growling and hissing at me. Every time I go near her she becomes very addjitated and growls,

will she get over this after her pain manegment medicine wears off? Has anyone ever had a cat whos personality changed after surgery?

Kiwi was certainly different for the day (and night) following her surgery. She didn't act hostile, but acted quite distant. I think it was the pain medication. The next morning she greeted us, but was still acted a bit subdued. The next day, she became our sweetheart again, and couldn't get enough of us.

Another thing Minnie always does is sleep under my covers, right next to me. She hasnt really done this at all since the kittens were born though.

Well my bedroom is upstairs, and I was trying to keep her from going upstairs when I got her home last night. I was afraid she would fall down the stairs. Finally after she kept being persistent I just let her go ahead upstairs. I also moved a litter pan and some food and water up near her.

I went up to check on her and she was under the covers. Well I lay next to her, and she cuddled up right away. No hissing or growling, she just went to sleep.

She slept like that all night and this morning she still isnt growling at me anymore. She hasnt gotten out of bed though.

I am happy, maybe now I have my little teddy kitty back to sleep with me at night!

I heard that its quite common for some cats to get really grumpy after surgery. Mirri certaintly was angry after she got spayed! The way she was growling, I bet everyone in the clinic thought there was a wild animal in the carrier. We couldn't even get her out of the vet's carrier because no one dared to touch her so we had to bring it home. The next few days she was quite lethargic but after that she was ok
