Dr. Jean, I have a related question to your response on the biting topic.

Every morning during my shower, Thomas waits patiently on the back of the toilet. As soon as I turn off the water he gets down and paces and cries. As soon as I have a towel wrapped around me, he starts trying to get up into my arms (he stands on his hind legs and rests his front legs on my legs). I pick him up and cuddle him and scratch under his chin for several minutes. Then when I am just about ready to put him down (I have to get to work, you know) he will occasionally bite me. I don't know how to stop him from doing this. If he doesn't bite me, I'll gently set him down, letting his back feet touch the floor first then releasing him. When he does bite me, I lower him a bit and drop him onto the carpet, of course with his feet pointed to the floor.

What should I be doing? I don't want to reward him by continuing to pet him, but...I don't know. He's been doing this for a while now (on occasion about once a week), and apparently what I am doing is having no effect.
