Hey Everyone!

First night here on the forums and so far I'm loving it!!

My little guy "Binky" isn't adjusting to his new home and it's been over 3 months. He's always been a little scared of everything, but I never seen him like this.

He's been "Living" under the bed and only coming out to the master bathroom (thats where the food and litter box is) when it's time to eat and do his business. He dashes back under the bed when hes done, almost as if someone is chasing him.

I started to notice that he's scared of ceiling fans (even if they are not on). I try to pick him up and walk around the apartment, but he looks up and freaks out!

Running out of ideas on how I can get him to relax! Everything from catnip to purchasing a "Stress Reducing Pheromone" diffuser. Also I tired taking him in other rooms such as the dinning room, but he honestly camped out on the dining chair for two weeks!!!

I'm getting worried about the little guy :patback

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advanced!

ps. His brother Kitty adjusted to the new place in one day, it's so odd!!

We moved last year without problems.

I think he will accept his new home after a while. It is all "new" to him, he needs just a little more time. Keep calm.Taking him to other rooms can be a stress factor, too. Be sure: He will discover his new territory by himself.

He's beautiful! My Prince looks a bit like him. What breed is he?

When I adopted Prince, he acted spooked for about 40 days. Then all of a sudden took control of the house.

I'm sorry to hear about Binky. I don't know what to suggest other than to give him time, although I appreciate 3 months is already a long time. Is there any chance the people who lived in the apartment before you had pets? If so, perhaps he can still smell them and is reacting to their scent...in which case, you might want to do a thorough cleaning (steam clean carpets, etc.). You might also try other calming remedies, such as Rescue Remedy or Spirit Essences. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

A few questions....have you had Binky since he was a kitten? How old was he when you got him? Was your last residence his first home? Is Binky your only cat? Do you work outside the home all day more than 7-8 hrs.? Was he nervous or unsure of things in your last home?
Three months does seem a bit long for him still to be hiding under the bed. Some cats are just very highstrung and unsure of themselves. It will take him longer to feel at home. If he's your only cat, another confident, laid back, outgoing kitten may bring him around. There may be other suggestions, depending on your answers.
