I have had cats all my life and have always fed them stuff like Frisky's, Chefs Blend, Meow Mix..... I got another cat last summer so I decided to start feeding them better. I started out with Purina One and Pro Plan. Although there coat is amazingly soft they are now getting a very flabby/fatty stomach. Other then that they are nice and trim. I have just now started feeding them "Chicken Soup" so I'm not sure how that will be for them as it is still in the Pro Plan/Chicken Soup mix right now.

Again, I have had cats all my life and have never had one get this flabby stomach.

I know that it is normal but it doesn't look healthy to me. I feel like going back to the cheap stuff.

Thanks for any help,
Debbie

Do you free feed your cats? If not, you might need to put them on a set feeding schedule with set amounts of food. The best way to help a cat lose weight is to feed them a little less food.. and it's always very gradual, it can take months so you must be patient.

Chicken Soup is one of the highest quality foods out there, way better than Meow Mix/Friskies, et cetera. The ingredients are key, and meat (not by-products) should be the first ingredients. Wheat, corn, brewers rice and things like that are not good for cats.

Another option to consider is feeding canned food, it's lower in carbs so it's much better for cats. As my vet once said, put them on a CATkins diet.

Here are some links that say much more than I ever could:
