Hello...

We have an 8 month old cat and she's been really super until about a month ago. She started regularly peeing on our bathroom mat. We washed it many times, but nothing helped, so now it is hung up when we aren't using it.

Since that has been taken away, she's started peeing on our bed. Obviously, we can't hang the bed up, so this is a major problem! She peed on it once before, months and months ago, but it stopped until recently.

I've read many articles on this, and I really need a personalized response. She was at the vet and has no physical problems. We keep her box clean, but it has ceder filling and maybe she dislikes it? It is in a quiet place and has been there since we got her (when she was a baby). I know we shouldn't, but it's hard not to yell at her when we catch her squatting on our bed!

We live in a studio apartment, so there is only ONE room (no bedroom) and we realistically can't keep her off of the bed.

PLEASE help! We love our kitty, but this has GOT to stop!

Thank you very much!

Well it says in your post that you already took her to the vet? So ruling that out, then yeah, maybe change the litter...she might not like it and might be getting picky as she gets older. Also, everything she pees on make sure you wash it or clean the area with a solution that contains "enzymes". These cleaning solutions are available at pet stores. Cats can smell pee even if you can't, and if she can smell it then you can be pretty sure that she thinks that it's ok for her to go there.

My kitten has started complaining only after ONE day if his box isn't totally spotless (like he goes in a groans...haha), once I scoop it or clean it then he's completely fine. So just keep it totally clean too.

Good luck with her!
