Hello. My 6 month old kitty Charley threw up this morning around 6:30 a.m.. Then he was running around erratically and had white foam coming out of his mouth as he was smacking his lips and shaking his head. Soo after he settled down and stopped doing it I put him in his room for the day, checking on him every 20 minutes. He was fine all day. Then I let him out of is room to the rest of the house for a few hours and he started the foaming and running around thing again around 7p.m.. after he drank some clean water from his bowl. He is acting fine now. What is wrong with him and why does he keep doing this???

He might have found something in your house that he is chewing on or licking that is bad tasting and that’s what happens. They start foaming. Make sure that there isn’t anything he is getting into that he shouldn’t be. If he continues to throw up for no reason then I would suggest getting him checked out by your vet.

Thankyou. He only threw up 1 time this morning. But has done the foaming thing twice now today, this morning and at 7 p.m. . There isn't anything around that he can get into. All we can figure is maybe he ate a bug that bit him in the mouth. The foaming thing only lasts about 1 minute and then he acts normal again. I have no idea. We are keeping an eye on him. Our other cat is fine.

I would call my vet to let them know what's going on. The symptoms are so random and I probably worry too much about kittens, but the foaming and shaking his head would scare me enough to take him to a vet.
