Is this a dominance thing? Norman will go to cuddle with Doris and all of the sudden he just starts chomping on her neck and she hates it and it usually results in a cat fight. Any suggestions or ideas as to why he does this?

Mia and Mac do this all the time to each other and then they end up in a wrestling match on the floor. They have gotten perturbed with each other and yelped but never in an all out fight. Neither one seems to be dominate though.

My cats do this too at times when grooming. It often ends in an escalating wrestling match until one leaps away. I asked my vet about it, and she said it sounded pretty normal for cats.

My boys bite throats when grooming. Kind of like a mother might do to control a kitten. Biting the back of the neck happens too (along with mounting) occasionally. Um, kind of like in prison. ;)
