Hi. I'm new to this forum. My wife and I have a beautiful kitty, Penelope who wants to have kittens. We have decided to let her have one litter before fixing her. The problem we have is that we can't find a male cat who isn't fixed in our town...Any suggestions?

Maybe you can post something in a local paper, they have some of those little free greensheets or local papers where you can post that you may need an unfixed cat. If not, I'm not sure since I dont really know about that topic :D

May I ask why you want to let her have a litter? Do you already have good homes lined up for the kittens? Plus, with all the homeless cats and those put to sleep daily do you really want to bring more kittens into this world?

I keep thinking that for every kitten born in a "planned" litter, that is one more shelter cat that doesn't get a chance at a home.

Just wondering.

I totally agree with Richo. There's already millions of unwanted kittens/cats in the world that are being killed every day because they have no homes.

So unless you intend on keeping the entire litter of kittens, or like Richo said... already have loving homes for the entire litter (which could be 6 or more kittens)... then you should NOT purposely let her get pregnant.

Contrary to the myth that cats are healthier once they have at least one litter of kittens before they're fixed, is NOT true. Check with several vets... they'll all tell you they live longer/healthier lives if they never give birth.
