My 2 year old female just had her first litter at 2:30 am. Unfortunately she gave birth to only one little angel and that poor baby was a stillborn. My cat is petite as far as cats go.

The answers I'm seeking are why did she have only one kitten? She didn't have long or hard labor, she got Wonderful prenatal care from myself and her vet. She also really didn't seem to upset that her kitten was dead she ate the after birth and wentgo sleeping untill 3 this afternoon.

Before my cat (puffy) got pregnant she wasn't a very lovey dovey cat she was actually VERY mean. My next question and last question would be after she gave birth and woke up this afternoon she has been super and I mean super clingy with me.

she will go into whatever room I'm into and whine and meow untill I follow her back into my bedroom and back into bed with her why is she acting like that

It’s just down to chance, cats don’t always have big litters and only having one is definitely not unheard of.

She’s probably feeling a bit worse for wear and wants you to look after her. Or she could be looking for the kitten. Can I ask what made you decide to let a cat with a mean temperament have kittens?

Some cats will only birth one kitten. Sometimes there are other eggs fertilized but they aren't viable and are absorbed.

Cats know when the kitten isn't going to live so they just move on, so to speak. Its nature not to use resources for a baby that won't live.

She may be hormonal still, which will affect her mood. Take advantage of this and try to form a closer bond with her. Maybe the change could be permanent.

Hi yes definitely cats can have one baby . Not unusual. Your cat definitely is having maternal instincts about her kitten. Since the kitten is not in sight any longer she will continue to meow and look for the kitten and express to you as well. This is normal behavior . It will stop but it can take a month for her to stop looking for her kitten. Give your cat lots of tlc and bond with her she’ll love that.

Awwww so glad she’s coming to you for love. Keep up the great work! So glad that this made bonding between you both. It’s precious coming from the kitty.
Thank you! The outcome could of been 100x WORSE I could of lost her and the kitten I'm just thankful that my cat is happy and healthy and that I still have her puffy cat being so sweet to me is a much needed bonus
