I adopted this cat about 4 months ago. We've been extra loving with him since he got here, he was perfectly fine until a day when he found a gorilla plush that we had in a closet. He got really scared and started growling and hissing. We took it away and hid it from him hoping he calm down, but now he started showing sudden aggression at us. We've tried to give him space and just let him be and sometimes he comes to us and shows signs of affection but other times he gets scared when we approach and he growls and hisses at us and follow us around in a tense way. We don't know what is triggering this because one minute he is comfortably lying on the bed beside us but next thing you know he shows this agrgession. This is the first cat we've had and we need advice on how to proceed and react properly so he returns to be the lovable cat he was and feel comfortable in the house again.

Any advice you could recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Well I've never heard of such a thing!! Really bizarre! Hmmm, maybe if you rubbed the plush gorilla toy all over with catnip he'd like it; worth a try, and smear on a bit of butter or chicken grease. Put it in the closet again and let him re-discover it. Would like to hear an update.
