Good Morning ya'll! I am new here and really hope I have come to the right place. I need help.

A few days ago I took my cat to the vet because she was walking really slow and hiding and not going in her litter box. So the diagnosis was constipation. I have never had a cat before this nor know how to deal with a constipated one or how long cats are mad for. They did x-rays of her abdomen and you can see the back up, they took blood work and everything seemed fine some counts were a little elevated but the vet said it was nothing to worry about. I took her to the vet and they gave her a pain medication that is supposed to last for a few days.

Since then she has gone to the bathroom 3 times and it still acting scared and afraid, hiding, not wanting to eat now and won't let us love on her.

I cannot afford to take her to the vet again as I had to do Care Credit he first time anyways and that's almost maxed out. I am really starting to worry here and I cannot imagine my 2 year old cat being this ill. Has anyone dealth with a constipated cat before and can you please help me put my mind at ease that she is just uncomfortable and still freaked out from the vet visit and the pain.

Thank you all.

the cat is likely still in pain if hiding. some vets really do care about pets and you can negotiate prices. if he wont then find another vet. I don't know what your budget situation is like or it sounds like a somewhat reasonable that go by break you, but I would try to get a second job or eat beans and rice and rice and beans and don't spend any money on anything, and your budget won't be in danger and you can give your cat the healthcare he needs. good luck to you.

I also might take all of that paperwork with the lab stuff to another vet if the same vet isn't giving you any satisfaction.

does the cat not drink a lot of water? in my experience that's usually the culprit. they have all kinds of health problems from not drinking. the cat might not like the taste of water, assuming you're giving it tap water. I give my cat bottled water and it has improved her health greatly. I had ferrets that were very sensitive to the chlorine in tap water and most of them lost the fur on their tails. they all got healthy when I gave them bottled water

I agree with TS9. Also, cats don't always drink enough water which would help keep things moving, and dry food can cause problems, so a diet of wet food like a pate that's easy to digest may help, and you could add a little more water to it if need be. Some people have said that pumpkin can help with constipation so you could talk to your Vet about that or other natural remedies.
