I have a 3 year old female named Scarlet (we call her Scar). She was bullying our older little dog so we got a kitten to be her playmate (Hyde). Scar took 2 days to warm up to Hyde, and now seems to think she’s his momma, yes! They play, snuggle and generally get along well! She now leaves the dog alone. However, Scar and Hyde seem to play rough at times, so much so that she has a few battle wounds, specially around her whiskers, ears and nose. I’ve been cleaning them, and they are healing, she just looks rough. She has never hurt Hyde, more so it’s like she just seems to take it from him. How do I stop this behavior? I feel awful that she’s being beat up per say. He has plenty of toys, a 6 foot cat tree and a 7 year old boy to play with as well. I’m just worried she’s going to get scared up from allowing him to continue this. Has anyone else experienced this?

Wait for a time when Hyde is sleepy, and clip the tips of his claws with nail clippers, being careful not to nick the quick (vein). Rub the end of the claw with an emery board to take off any roughness. Feed him a treat after his manicure. Scarlet will in her own time handle any of Hyde's aggressive play which may likely get worse as he matures into his "terrible teens" around 8 mos. or so. If Hyde hasn't been neutered yet, you should have this done as this will help. You can't really stop the behavior because that's the type of play kittens do. If you think he's really getting over the top, you can distract Hyde with a wand toy, and flick it around and let him chase it. Or get a ping pong ball and let him roll it around on the floor or in a bathtub. It's helpful if you can siphon off some of his energy through active play with teaser toys.

+1 for above

Like to add, you can get one of those SmartyKat Electronic Motion Cat Toy to help burn off some energy for times you can't play with the kitten.
