Hi everyone, i currently have a 2 year old cat named Mo who is very playful, cuddly, vocal and loves his people. I just rescued a kitten that was living under my shed. His name is yogi. He was fostered with other kittens before coming to live with us.
yogi is also playful and loves to snuggle. He’s in the spare bedroom. He warmed up to me very quickly. I have been feeding them by the door and giving both cats treats. The issue is both cats are very needy and don’t like being left alone. I’m trying to take introductions slow.
When I go to leave the spare bedroom, yogi tries to block me he then runs to the door where Mo is usually waiting because he’s curious. Yogi will see mo and hiss at him. I’ve tried putting up a baby Gate and letting them see each other but yogi will still hiss at Mo. I don’t know how to react to the hissing. Do I ignore IT? I was hoping to let them swap rooms soon and get used to the scent but I worry they’ve already seen each other and yogi is hissing. Unfortunately I’m only one person and can’t keep Mo from wandering the rest of the house and try to move him when I leave the room.
what do I do?do I try to have them swap rooms? Or do I try the baby gate Again and let yogi hiss? I’m trying to give them both equal attention but when I spend time with one the other begins whining.
they have similar personalities and I think they will make great playmates. I wouldn’t have adopted the kitten if I thought otherwise. I love them both and just want to do right by both cats. Thank you!
