Hello

I am new to this forum I just want some advice and I hope this is the place to get it. I have a maiden queen who is currently kittening as I type - very exciting! She is doing really well and has five so far.

The question I have is how to manage the other male cat I have in the house - it is her brother and we have had them both since kittens. When she started today he was crying at the bottom of the stairs and when I went up she was having the first kitten. Since then I have kept him either outside or dowstairs because i don't know how he will react to a) her and b) the kittens. My insting it to keep them apart, at least until she has finished kittening and had a rest, but I dont want to make him jealous.

Also she is in the bed we have made up for her but we had to bring it to her as she started off in the bathroom and that is where she is now, obviously. I would like to move her downstairs and introduce a kitten pen/box. I don't want to upset her or touch the kittens but i was wondering how much we can move her and/or touch the kittens.

Sorry if I seem a bit vague its all new to me and I promise she is being neutered as soon as the vet give us the go ahead.

Thanks

Helen

Dont let them together.
Females come into heat a few hours and your male will backbreed her.
If he is crying because she is giving birth it is most likely because he knows she is coming into heat again.
She will also come into heat AGAIN after about 2 months I think it is.

Ideally you need to get your male nutered NOW and your female when the kittens are FULLY weaned.

The male cat has been neutered, they are not his kittens he is her brother!

Shall I still keep them apart? When can we mover the queen + kittens?

no probs! Just new to all this. Anyway Tallulah is settled with her six beautiful black and white kittens who are all lined up suckling away. I have had to drag myself away to come to bed - I have work in the morning!
