When it comes to cats, I think I'll always be a newbie. I've had/been had by Ritz for almost a year, and am still learning every day. (Why DOES she pee standing up????)
Ritz and her liter mates were abandoned about a year ago in front of my condo. They survived a 20 inch snow storm. My friend trapped them the day after Christmas and socialized them; they were formerly feral. I helped a little. I got to know Ritz and agreed to foster her; she had me with her first meow. Prior to that time I'd never had a pet before, much less a feline. Best. Decision. Ever.
Since then I've also become the caretaker of a stray/abandoned pets/feral cat colony, now numbering eight to nine. I with a lot of helped successfully TNRd all but one three weeks ago.
I'll be posting later on for advice about the feral cat colony and Ritz' pecularities.
