So, when we open a can of cat food, we put it in a widemouthed glass canning jar because it takes us 4 days to use it up. We just use a standard canning lid with a ring to seal it.
Tuesday night, my husband fed Assumpta before we left for co-op. We were in a hurry, and apparently, he put the lid on the jar, but forgot to put the ring on and forgot to put the jar back in the refrigerator.
Well, Assumpta fans know what happened...we got home a couple of hours later to find the lid on the kitchen floor and extensive paw and tongue marks through the food. The cat was sitting on the counter, happily washing her paws and face with a very satisfied expression. She was VERY pleased with herself...no remorse at all. In fact, she was really flaunting her chop licking and washing-up, just to make sure that we knew she'd had a nice snack.
Later, when she came to sit on my lap, I spent fifteen minutes picking dried cat food out of the tabby stripes on top of her head.
My cat...she's a whacko and a food thief, but she's just so gosh-darned cute that I can't stay mad at her.
