Non pâté, quality wet foods:

Hey all,

I know cats are finicky eaters and my little boys will not TOUCH pâté. I used to feed them friskies fillets, which they love. Recently I've started buying them better foods, but sometimes I get stuck with pâté because I can't always tell what's in a can. So I thought making a list of QUALITY wet food that isn't pâté would be helpful (for me and for all of us here who have , or will eventually have, cats who don't want pate). Here's my $.02:

Soulistic (PetCo - made by weruva) : all their foods are non-pâté
Weruva : most of their foods seem to be non-pâté
Wellness: look for the foods in gravy for the non pâté foods

It's a lot of money to try a can and find out I need to throw it away because its pâté. So can anyone add to this list of NON pâté, quality wet foods. I'd love to find some meat flavors, because my boys loved their old friskies meat flavors.

Thanks

b.f.f. (best feline friend), at least some flavors are not pate - more like pieces of fish and shreds of chicken in some sort of gel - similar to soulistic i think. i am not sure if all flavors are like that b/c tried only few

1) Addiction Brushtail / Venison / Unagi - all minced, but not the Rabbit / Duck confit / Tuckey
2) Taste of the Wild
3) Fussie Cat - chicken are shredded and fishes are chunky pieces

Not exactly high-quality, mid range maybe.

Soulistic from Petco is good quality and decently priced! Soulistic is a petco exclusive brand made by Weruva. But you have to pay attention because only the ones that say "in gravy" are shredded style. The ones that say "in gelee" are pate...

Im in the same boat as you. My cats look at pate and walk away. Right now they are on friskies since Im looking for a job. Once I get a job they get better food or maybe I will just make it. That spread sheet is awesome! Thanks for posting it!!!!

Artie walks away from Pate also. He has driven me crazy with food.
Found these foods at Petsmart, unfortunately cannot order on line.
They are either chunks or flaked chicken..

Blue Buffalo: flaked chicken, chicken florentine, flaked tuna, chicken chunks in gravy, beef bourgion.

Natures Recipe: chicken, chicken with beef, ocean fish, salmon
I cannot find fillers in this one--looks like shredded chicken,
fish chunks... Made in Thailand. does have tomato. carrots
and some brown rice

Simply Nourish: chicken stew, chicken and duck, chicken and tuna.
also look like chicken shreds.
Made in Thailand, has some carrots and tomato

The last two sound similar but they are a bit different.
I rotate all of them and feed fish only once or twice a week.

I also smoosh them down a bit and add a touch more of water; Artie does not drink much. And I feel better when I look at these foods and can visually see the ingredients; And they do not look bad at all!

These are in the same aisle at petsmart and are right next to each other.

I hope this helps you! I know what it is like to have a fussy, spoiled cat....

ps. Artie does not like Weruva, however these seem similar to it.

They are about a dollar a can (3 oz)...

Good luck!:eek:rcat

i got few cans of By Nature canned for cats in different flavors and venison stew is not a pate, but small chunks in gravy. I think they have few different flavors in "stew" variety and they all might be chunks in gravy.
