Both of my 6month old girls have stopped covering their poop in the litter box. I don't know why or what to do. I haven't changed anything. Any ideas?

Sorry everyone. I searched for an answer and saw lots of people have asked this. Apparently not much I can do about it haha. Darn :-(

I also have one kitty that usually doesn't cover up her deposits (won't mention any names since she is right here lol). However, sometimes if I happen to be in the same room, I say, "Hey you forgot something", she will actually go back into the box and cover it up. Not sure if it is coincidence or not but you may need to remind them. Then reward with treats!

After 5 years of using a covered litter box, the last month or so my girl Alkee has decided she doesn't want to cover poop either even tho she cover her pee clumps. No change in litter. So I removed the cover and now most of the time she will cover it....guess she got tired of smelling her own stink while in the box? The reason I used the cover in the first place was she was a big litter-kicker. So far she's not kicking the litter out any more. These cats just keep doing things to keep us on our toes!

Mimi doesn't cover her poop OR her pee! EVER! And she pees on the edge of the box every time. She's never once peed over the box though, thankfully. After she poops, she races out of there like a bat out of heck and flies around the house, as if to say "OMG, that did NOT just come out of me! I'm SO embarrassed!" My last cat, Princess, did the same exact thing. I wonder if it's a girl thing? :wink

Some cats have soft poop and don't want to get it on their paws, switching their diet so the have firmer poop can fix the problem.

My boy Zuba always has firm poops, but he does the racing-out-of-the-litterbox and racing-through-the-house thing too.
