his name is boris. he's a 10 month old, 12lbs scottish fold. born in russia, raised in scottsdale, arizona and now living in detroit, michigan. these are the pictures from his previous owner, once he gets used to our house we'll take more recent pics of him. after 14 hours of air travel from yesterday he's very quiet and camera shy at the moment. we had fun yesterday giving him a bath and hair drying him, water he wasn't much fond of but he didn't scratch or make a sound. very quiet, and very clean cat. litter trained, and wipes his paws on scratch board after every visit to the bathroom. here are the pics...

we just got married on saturday night, and on sunday night we picked him up from airport. funniest thing though, we were both more worried about him then our marriage arrangement :D

He's gorgeous! :luv

I watched the rerun of Cats 101 last night and one of their featured kitties was the Scottish Fold.

He's very handsome. And looks quite sturdy as well. My husband saw the Cats 101 show - I'll have to show Boris to him.

thanks everyone. worst thing is that i'm allergic to him, so now i'm trying to cope with red itchy eyes. good thing he's been staying in the basement for past couple days. i've brought him up to one of our rooms, but during the night he ran back down to his bathroom in the basement and hid behind the toilet. right now he's hiding in his litter box, and afraid to come out. we'll see how things go over the next few days.

Boris is sure a sweetie! Has the face and body type similar to a British shorthair :luv ! SFs are often out-crossed to BSHs...

Congratulations on your wedding, too! (Your remark about worrying more about Boris than your marriage made me laugh! I am sure Boris thinks 'hey! these people have the right priorities! )

Slightly off-topic: as far as allergy goes, we've got two out of three in our family who are allergic to Gracie (Hubby very much so, son not so much). We use the shampoo called Allerpet C for cats, every ten days or so. It works well - the first few days after Gracie's been bathed, everyone can snuggle their faces right into her fur with no reaction at all :).

Here's a link to the manufacturer's web site http://www.allerpet.com/index.html, I hope it helps!

yeah my allergy is almost gone now, i think what i did before was pet him and then scratch my eye without washing hands. yesterday was much better and today i don't have any problems. took him to the vet early in morning for regular checkup, he wasn't too excited about it.

Is it possible to sleep with both eyes open? Because that's what I would advise for tonight! 8O

He is SO adorable. Gorgeous cat, I love him. It almost looks like he is a lynx point, but it could just be the camera playing tricks... am I right? I've never seen a pointed scottish fold. Either way, he's quite striking. And, like everyone else, I love his name as well :) it's a perfect fit.

the vet mentioned something about lynx point, but i have no clue what that is just that it's related to siamese cats. he's becoming braver every day. today he spent most of the day upstairs out of the basement and he's eating more then previously. now we just need him to use the proper bathroom and not our flower pot lol, so we've set up litter boxes upstairs where flower pot was and one downstairs where he used to hide in basement all the time.

xeene,

Lynx point just means that the "points" (areas of darker color on his tail, legs and head) are tabby striped. It's one of the prettier patterns, in my opinion (of course I could be biased having a lynx point myself).

Was Boris an outdoor/indoor cat previously? He might be using the flower pots because he is used to going potty in dirt instead of sand. If moving the litterbox doesn't work you could try putting some soil in it. If that works you can slowly begin to mix kitty litter in until he's used to it. Good luck! :)
