This morning I notice my male betta Miyavi had part of his long tail "cut" off. He seems to be doing fine until I saw it. For the past two weeks or so I haven't been paying attention to the fish at all. I only fed them and that's it. Here's how he looked before:

And now look at it:

I know that this is a cat forum, but I sure hope his tail heals..

He's so pretty! Sorry to hear about his pretty tail. I've had bettas split their tails/fins in the past. Usually I find it's because of plastic plants...they can really easily cut their fins on them. He should be fine, just need to let it heal.

Thanks! It's weird that Misa is scared of him even though she's the size of a full grown pacu and she could probably eat him. lol

Well I could probably remove those floating plastic plants I have until it heals.. That's what I did to Kara when she had mysterious white dots and her skin would kind of peel. The dots are no longer there. :p

...the white dots were on a fish? If so they were likely ich and will keep coming back and reinfecting the tank. You need to treat for it for them to go away.

As for your betta fin problems can also be caused by poor water quality. How big is your tank, how often do you change the water?

Oh he's in a two gallon hex and I change at lest 50-70% of the water every week. It also has a algaep roblem too and it builds up quickly. More quickly than the 10 gallon. It's healing slowly now after I took out the floating plants.
