My Dewey is a month away from being 16 years old.He started getting sick over a year ago with diarrhea and he was prescribed a cortizone which kept him stable. The past week or two I noticed he wasn't eating as much and finally he just wasn't moving and was walking with his hind legs drooping. I took him to the vet yesterday and was told his bloods were mostly normal with his potassium a little low. The vet is hoping by giving him the potassium we can help him over a bump in the road. Its the next day and he seems even worse. He crawled out of his bed and laid next to it. I carried him to the litter box. He couldn't crawl in and peed on the pad. The took a couple of steps to move away from it and laid down again. I carried him to his bed. He seems restless and breathing heavy.

Wouldn't I see an improvement by now? I gave him a dose around 3PM yesterday.
