My new kitten Magic has gas. It was worse when we first got him, then when he was switched onto Felidae and off whatever the humane society was feeding him it went away. Now it is back. I notice him farting probably once or twice a day. Before his food was switched it was pretty much constant.

What causes this?

Has he been wormed lately? Worms are a big cause of gas. Any table scraps or food other than the usual? Diet is another big cause of gas. Has he been on antibiotics? They can cause gastrointestinal upset. And a stomach bug can cause gas. Some of the corona viruses are very minor and only cause gas. Sometimes diarrhea comes with it, too.

Even though it's gross, one or two farts a day isn't anything to be concerned about unless he seems to have a belly ache.

Hehe poor belly! Some cats are just more gassier than others but hopefully you get it checked out b/c it can definitely be a worm causing it. If he is all healthy, than you just may have a gassy kitty.
