Dr. Jean -
We have a 6 m/o Yorkie puppy that we got about 6 weeks ago. Today I caught her scooting her butt on the linoleum in the kitchen.

My boyfriend said she did this once about a month ago, but these are the only 2 times we've seen it.

She is treated with Revolution every month.

How do I know if it's worms, anal glands, or just an itchy butt?

Ok, I called the vet. She suggested that Penny could have an infection, also, b/c she has been peeing a lot.

So we are going to take her in which is what I thought should be done, but I didn't know if I was being a paranoid Mommy.

Thanks, Dr. Jean.

Sure you can ask. We are waiting for her permanent teeth to come in a little more. She told me that if we were willing to wait just a little longer we would be able to tell if her baby teeth needed any assistance in coming out. The breeder told us to watch for this also b/c they've had problems with baby teeth not coming out on their own and then the permanent teeth protruding at an awkward angle.

I don't want to put her under twice so just in case her teeth would need vet's assistance, we decided to wait a couple of weeks. We are going to have her spayed, though, and as soon as possible. We have no desire to breed her.

edit: oh, and the only reason I asked if it was related to heat is b/c when my cat went through her first heat, she scooted her butt a lot. I didn't know the proper age to have her spayed. :(
