The other day i looked at my cats eyes. She already had her eye open, but i opened it a little wider. When i did that, the third eyelid part came right over her eye, even though her eye was open. I know the third eyelid comes over when their eyes are shut, but ive never seen her do this before. Was this just a natural reaction to me trying to open her eye more, or does this mean something? :?

Quick answer: It's a natural protective response. The third eyelid comes up because the eye retracts in response to pressure. There are muscles that can pull the whole eyeball backwards into the socket (we don't have that ability).

Well thanks for the help. ;) When i saw her eyelid come over like that, it freaked me out! I really thought something was wrong with her eye.
