So I've been reading up on the Raw Meaty Bone diet for the past few days and am feeling a bit overwhelmed. How exactly do you go about it?
I have two old kittens that are about 5 kilos each, so that's about 2 kilos of raws a week. Is 1 whole chicken a week with other organs and bones enough? I live in Malaysia and here, the free-range chickens or so called village chickens are more than 10 bucks per kilo, with the normal chickens being 6 or so per kilo.
I want to find a most economical way of getting meat so I can hopefully convince my parents to let me try this diet out. I can't help cringing every time i see my cats eating those dry kibbles :patback

The real trick to raw feeding is as much variety as you can provide; variety in types of protein as well as organs. I don't feed my cats organic (free range) chicken, but regular farm bred chickens so the cheaper chickens should do just fine. In fact, most of the chicken I feed are such parts as backs, necks, wings, entrails, etc. I also feed beef liver, pork heart, uterus, etc.

If you can find a place like a butcher shop or local market to get all the less popular
cuts and entrails, you should do just fine. Remember to start, your cats may not take to it right away. They will need to be convinced and allowed some time to adjust.

I would also check out the menu thread

Good luck!

well I convinced my dad to give me some leftover cuts from the whole chicken he is gonna cook with. So I'll try and see if the cats will touch it. cross fingers!

one more thing...can cats eat frogs?

edit: and i gave them a bit of meat with some bone on it. Nemo got busy with his piece right away; Tiger took some time to figure out how to tear it apart, but he got it too :D
