My 7 week kitten likes to resource guard. She gets her favorite toy and runs around growling. If you try to take it from her she gets aggressive. I KNOW this is a problem behavior, but what is the best way to deal with it. I need to nip it now.

Offer her a treat, (small bit of cheese, or something she really likes) and when she drops her toy to eat the treat take the toy, but then throw it for her. Make a game of it. She should soon drop the toy as soon as she smells a treat. Or before you give her the toy, bat it back and forth between your hands and then bat it toward her.

She's not really enthusiastic about treats so far. She'll at least eat the catnip flavored ones, but won't even really sniff at the seafood ones.
