In the last 2 weeks, I've had my carpet taken out which meant disarranging and rearranging the apartment, and taken my little bandit to a catsitter for a whole day.

I think it really shook him up.

He misses the carpet (I'm getting new carpet installed on Wedensday)

He seems nervous and introverted, not his usual hyper, adventurous self, although he's coming around. How do I help him get his groove back, and get him ready for next week?

Isn't he just coming back after the exterminator? He's been shuffled around a lot lately it seems. That might be his problem.

Jem was that way when I got a new mattress (one of his hiding places was IN the boxsprings of my bed). He was not happy about it (but he quickly made another hole in the bottom of the corner so he could climb back in). He acted weird and hid for a week or so after that!

I'd just give him some extra treats, and maybe some dedicated one-on-one time. He should be back to himself once things settle down.

Jem was very sensitive like that too and had to be handled with kid gloves any time there were changes in the house. Scout's the complete opposite. I remember when I got a new couch, it was like a week later when he was sniffing it and looking at it kind of quizzically, like "hey, is this a different couch?" Typical male. :)
