I just wanted to post this, should anyone be searching on it in the future. Many seem to worry about how cruel or harmful these are.

I put in on my counter on low (it has 3 positions) It's more of an electric tingling than a shock ( I stood on it at low setting)

Didn't seem to hurt Toby or shock him. He was more like "hmm, this feels weird, I don't like, and I'm really not comfortable standing here, I think I'm going to get down." It was a slower reaction, not a startling jump.

Bottom line, did not seem to be cruel or harmful.

Good information, Hal....thanks!

If I could ask, how large are they? I don't have small counters, but they're not long/huge either.
