My Simba has always done this, but I am really curious as to why. He'll go to his water dish and start pawing the ground right next to it. Then he will start scratching hard and really digging his claws into the carpet.

When he decides he is ready and has a good grip with one paw, he will drink. Every time he drinks, he will have one arm fully extended and clawed deep into the ground as if he was stretching. Any clue why he does this?

Also, he has never done it with food, just water.

I was watching him do it today and it seems like he might want to have the water moving. Maybe I should buy a cat drinking fountain for him?

Mr man always did that his food dish all the time and sometimes to the water dish. He never did it to the Drinwell 360 I bought though!

We had a cat with vision issues and he would tap his foot into the water bowl to make the surface move so he could better judge the distance and not dunk his nose underwater when he bent down to drink.
