I got my cats a scratching post a while ago. The cats really like it. Its one of those courner ones where it has the cardboard in the middle for them to scratch on... As you can see its made out of carpet.. since the cats use it so much..the carpet has torn off some and the wood under nieth is showing. What can i do to cover that up?

I dont want my cats to get a splinter while there scratching on the post.

Thanks

If you look carefully at the tree, there are probably staples in the underside holding the rug to the board. Pull those staples out, take the rug off.

As for the carpet, you can buy a nice, thick doormat. You can go to a carpet shop and buy a remnant (small pieces left at the end of the roll of carpet). You can also buy Sisal woven fabric and use that instead. Sisal fabric lasts longer than carpet.

I'm sure someone here could tell you where to get the sisal fabric.

I have a carpeted cat tree and the rug part doesn't last long so I take the carpet off and put sisal around it. Lasts much longer.
