Hello!

I just registered to this forum, but I've been reading it for a few months. Being a first-time cat parent, I've learned a lot, and I look forward to becoming even more cat-savvy.

A little about me and Josie. I've had dogs my entire life. As an adult, my husband and I have had rescued three dogs: Bugsy, Bonny, and Clyde. (Bugsy is no longer with us, RIP). In November 2010, I adopted my first cat, Josie. We kind of have a gangster/outlaw theme for pet names, it seems. Josie was a stray, no one claimed her, no one posted that she was missing, and the local animal control center had no lost reports or responses to my found report. Josie has become a wonderful unexpected addition to the family. We love her so much.

I've considered myself to be fairly knowledgeable about dog issues (food, vet visits, health issues, etc.. I subscribe to Whole Dog Journal, The Bark, etc.), but I knew nothing about cats. I am fortunate to have several very cat-experienced friends who helped me with all of my cat questions. Over the summer, Josie started peeing outside her litter box. Doing research about this problem, I found this forum. I've enjoyed learning about cats and look forward to more discussions. (About her pee issue, the vet wanted me to put her on prescription Hills dry food. I knew enough about that crap to decline. Instead, I switched her to 100% grain-free wet food, with a Cosequin capsule several times a week.... no more accidents.)

Anyway, here's my first post, and a picture of our little Josie. :)

So sorry about Bugsy. :(
