we have a part siamese/part ??? cat. she has been with us for 2 years now, altho as an adopted cat we think she is about 10 years old. i had a black lab, that died this summer. she didnt really pay much attention to the dog, but i am wondering if this current problem has to do with the loss of the dog. the cat has now started bringing articles of clothing downstairs and makes that siamese howl and drops it. she hides some under the bed. if i pick anything up and put it away, she gets it right back out and does it again. can anyone help?

I'm thinking your cat is just acting out because she no longer knows what happened to your dog.... what Jeanie said is right, cats are very sensitive to changes so that may explain it. If you are really worried about it, give it a few days and make an appointment with a vet to see if your kitty is healthy. Good luck and sorry about your doggie.. Let us know what happens later :!:

I know of a story somewhat similar to this but even more poignant.
Bart is my mother-in-law's cat and he is about 15 years of age. There was a time when they had here, in the yard, the house pet - a sort of a black lab mix called Bear. It seems like Bart and Bear were unseparable friends. They would lay together in the sun even in winter times..Bart cuddling on top of Bear's long fur. Unfortunately time to pass to bridge came sooner for Bear ...and the day he died Bart would not move from the top of his body. They had difficulty taking him off for the last time.
It seems like Bart had a stroke soon after this and they thought he would never recover. His head is slightly crooked ever since.
He did come back to his senses in the end it seems...but Bear was his soulmate. I hope one day they will meet again.
Here is a picture of Bart..i don't have one of Bear. They are both equally beautiful : two wonderful friends.

Thank you, in Bart's name - Jeanie. He has got such a beautiful soul - and so did/does Bear - which I did not meet...but the story tells it all.

ruby does that.

Hi, I just posted a thread about a similar situation. I have two siamese cats, one is Ruby and she's a sealpoint 4 years old. And the other one Amsterdam is a tortie and she's just a kitten, maybe 4 months old. I rescued Ruby from the cage she'd been living in her whole life. She was mainly used for breeding. She has come a long way in being comfortable with me. She goes upstairs and brings down my families articles of clothing. Socks, hats, pants basically anything she can carry. Usually, I wake up to at least six different things on my bed. I have no idea what it means. Ruby also makes that weird meow thing you were talking about. I also have a lab mixed dog, and they're ok with each other but not pals. The cats tend to leave Zeke (dog) out.

I don't know what it means either. My friend said that Ruby is just bringing me presents.

weird.

It's amusing and touching both!

I saw a story on tv about shoes disappearing from a neighborhood. First one shoe-then the mate! Everyone was really flabbergasted, especially the family of the thief, their cat, who brought shoes home almost every day, and he always brought one at a time and then the matching one! I saw the video. You have to wonder why! At any rate, he was a true cat burglar!

p.s. By the time that aired, everyone in the neighborhood would just go to the cat's family and retrieve their shoes, with no hard feelings, just a smile!
