I have a neighbor whos an elderly lady, two stray cats frequent her yard and shes been feeding them two times a day for a couple months now. She's taken a liking to them and she wants to keep them as pets. There's unfortunately coyotes in our area, so she really doesn't want them staying out outside. I've been helping her trap them with live traps and we've gotten them both. However we noticed that the gray cat has a broken canine. It looks like it may have happened recently as its still bleeding.

I helped her get a couple of quotes locally and they all quoted about $7-800 for extraction. On top of that she's looking at getting her spayed and vaccinated, so she's looking at a bill of about $1,000.

She said she can't afford to get the tooth extracted at the moment. I've been doing research for her and it seems like the only options are extraction or root canal. It looks like it'll be painful for the cat if we leave her as is. I've verified that it is a complex fracture and the pulp is exposed, its not just a chip or the tip of the canine.

Incredibly sweet cat and I do want to help her as much as I can. What are some alternative options? Are there any charity or subsidized clinics that can help this cat out? We are in the Seattle, Washington area.

There is something called care credit. It’s for veterinarians office to use. Maybe apply for that and she could pay it off. Zero percent for 12 months. I used it once to get a mri for my cat st the emerg clinic- definitely call rescue groups and humane society and tell them your situation. I know in my area if you called the humane society they refer you to a clinic which cost less than half the price. Even shots were free. Try calling around and google. Don’t give up I am sure someone should give you a good reference
