I get them all the time .... get a washcloth and get it really hot (get it wet and microwave for 20 seconds), put it on the eye and the sty should pop on its own ...

Do not try to squeeze it as you could do damage... I have a floater in one eye because I tried squeezing one too hard and did some damage to my eye.

I didn't know what a stye was so I looked it up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stye
...wiki also says to use the hot/wet compress and they had different suggestions of things to use.

I had a problem last year with my left tear duct getting swollen and red. I went to the eye Dr and I forget what he prescribed, but it did heal quickly after I saw him. It was very painful and I did use hot/wet washcloths. They helped, but I didn't see any improvement until after I saw the eye Dr.

We met with a local opthamologist on Monday to discuss common eye issues at school.

He said he always felt guilty taking money from people when they came in with a sty. Warm soaks, 4-5 times a day are the best.
Baby shampoo used to have a mild antibacterial ingredient, so it was great to clean off the lash area. Not the same anymore.

If the sty becomes very hard, you do need to see a doctor. Occassionally they will reuire minor surgery to drain.

I used to get those when I was a little kid. I don't remember the cure any more. Chances are whatever it was isn't available now anyway.
