Midnight Louie is a black cat with 'baby greens' who helps his human 'roomie' Temple Barr solve mysteries. He has a 'maybe' daughter, Midnight Louise. The stories take place in Las Vegas, and Midnight Louie is very miffed about the policy of most restaurants excluding cats.

Also, in his commentaries about the case, he talks about ferals, homeless cats, and regularly escapes his cat bag and Temple's car so he can join the investigation.
