My Reilly who has the Feline Herpes virus was tested around 6 months old (he is 1 now) for the FIV and FeLV, I think it is. I think there are 2 viruses that they are tested for. He came up negative on both. I have been reading posts about FIP and it scares me. Do they tests for that too?

If he tested negative for these things, should I breathe a sigh of relief and not worry? What about the FIP?

The ordinary test for FIP won't tell you anything else than if he's been exposed to the Corona virus or not. And there's just a few percentage of the exposed cats that do develop FIP. There is one test that will tell you if your cat has FIP, but if it turns out to be negative it doesn't mean that your cat is healthy... just that the cat hasn't developed the disease yet. I would call it a total waste of money.

I've found that about 40% of healthy cats test positive on FIP. So, yeah, it is a pretty worthless test. If the kittens are gaining weight normally and look okay, they probably are!

So...Don't worry, be happy!
