This is a question for the Siamese enthusiasts out there. My kitten Fred's parents are registered with TICA as Thai Cats and are shown as such, but are also advertised as "traditional Siamese" cats. Is there a difference? Is THAI just the new name for the traditional Siamese so that they may be shown in addition to the Modern?

Yes, it's the new name, though not widely recognized. They recently allowed traditional Siamese cats to be a registered breed, but of course they couldn't have the same name as the already recognized Siamese cats (modern) because they have a different standard and are therefore different breeds. So they picked out the name Thai cat (Thailand was previously known as Siam).
