My agile little cat Mia has been leaping onto the fireplace mantle and eyeing a jump onto the expensive HDTV that's on a table top a few feet away. I tried putting things at the end of the mantle near the TV to dissuade her and she just knocked them off so I put down a 1 foot layer of tinfoil. It's fantastic. She put 1 one paw on it and acted like she'd stepped on a live electrical wire.
I've been using Feliway to ease a cat introduction but the results are hard to interpret so I can't endorse that but tinfoil, that's magic.
