After a month of living in her new home, my cat is ready to go outside for the first time! Problem is, we have a Tom living next door, who has made himself rather at home in our garden. What is the best way to introduce my female cat to him in the hope that they will get along? I know that he will consider the garden his territory, but am I naive to think that he won't be too aggressive since they are not same sex? I don't have the heart to chase the poor guy out of the garden.
They have 'met' each other through the glass door on 2 occasions, the first time he meowed alot and STARED, no blatant signs of aggression though, and he seemed a little calmer next time seeing her. On both occassions she was not very interested, but the hair on her back went up a tiny bit (just in case I guess).
She is spayed, not sure if Tom is neutered. I would really appreciate some advice on the most correct and unsettling way to do this
