This may sound gross but has anyone ever found blood in their cat's poop?

My cat is eating and drinking normally but when cleaning out his litter I saw some.... sorry to do this....
some redish, gelish stuff attached to his poop which I imagine is blood.

It could be worms or just like Cat_Woman said just about anything. It is not gross at all - just worrying. A few tests at the vet should let you know what this whole thing is about. Make an appointment as soon as possible. All the best to you and your kitty!

You should always check with a vet whenever you have worries or questions. Could be just hook worms could be something serious. Hook worms attach themselves to the intestine and that's where blood in the stool comes in. Please let us know what you find out.

Timmy has an appt for this Friday. They're not able to see him before then. However, they said if he stops urinating then that's blockage and I would need to take him the the Vet ER. He's fine in that respect.

Thank you for your posts and I will let you all know what we find.

We're back from the Vet & Timmy will be fine :)

He believes Timmy just has and intestinal infection which will be cured with his antibiotics. He also gave us some worm powder meds for Timmy to take for the next 3 days just in case he has worms. He doesn't believe it's hookworms.

Timmy was a stray that we adopted and the Vet says usually strays develop intestinal infections.

All and all he's fine, nothing too serious. (whew!)

Thanks again.
