My female cat whos about 1 year old, suddenly seems to be be visiting the litter tray a lot. She then seems to sit there and struggle, but without actually urinating or producing any feaces. Occasionally there seems to be a drop or two of blood where she was trying to go to the toilet.

Is it common for cats to be constipated, or could it be an indication of a larger problem?

That sounds like a very bad Urinary Tract Infection! Please take your cat to the vet ASAP! UTI are very serious, in people and animals, and can lead to kidney troubles if not treated right away.

I agree with Rayona, sounds like UTI. Your vet will give you antibiotics for her, but you need to take her very soon to prevent any further spread of infection.Good luck with her.

Blood in urine or feces is not good. It could be worms, UTI, some other type of internal problem but it is definitely best to take it to the vet so they can do some tests and figure out what is wrong. That way you can start medication or treatment right away :!:

Turned out it was possibly cystitis. The vet gave her an anti inflamatory injection, and then we put her on a course of anti-biotic tablets. She seems fine now.

Thanks for your help.
