For almost about 3 weeks Elendil (7 month old neutered male) has had diarreah everyday with no signs of letting up. We took him to the vet, they did the typical stool sample test and found nothing wrong. So they sent us home with some antibiotics just in case. The meds didn't do anything and it actually seemed to be getting worse (more liquid than solid). We changed foods-Science Diet for Sensitive Stomach- and did a whole 'nother round of meds for 8 days and no improvement. We wnt back to the vet this past Sat. - nothing again. Blood test, xrays all negative. Still waiting on the results of the fecal culture.

We've started giving him cooked rice mixed with his kibble. it took him a couple of days before he decided to eat it. There seems to be a very slight improvement but still not what I would consider normal.

Everything else is normal! Active, playful, no fever or sneezing
Please Help!!!

I would not recommend adding rice to kibble--that's way too much carbs and could set your kitty up for urinary tract troubles on top of everything else.

If you want to try a bland diet, cook up some ground turkey and mix that with the rice for a few days. Or turkey baby food would work. You might want to add some acidophilus to re-populate his GI tract after the antibiotics wiped it out!

Cheers,
Dr. Jean
