This girl I know had her nine month old English Bulldog puppy stolen out of her car last night while she was shopping.

She had locked the doors but kept the windows down enough so "Tank" wouldn't overheat. They were down enough that someone came along and pulled him out through the window. The police don't have any leads yet but they are going to review the tapes from the parking lot cameras to see if there's anything on them.

This comes as a little bit of a shock because I live in a small town and it's been several years since anyone has reported a dog stolen. You think that this sort of thing isn't supposed to happen here... I can only hope that Tank returns home soon to his mom, unharmed. :(

Why do people steal dogs?

If they plan to sell a purebreed, I don't think they'll find a person who will pay that much without papers.

Bean, you'd be surprised. I've come across an abundance of people who have paid hundreds of dollars just for mutts. In fact there used to be a "breeder" in town who let his Rottweilers and Belgians breed together and he'd sell the mixes for almost three hundred dollars.

Or people who have had the wool pulled over their eyes by people selling them dogs and promise to send the papers but never come through.

A while ago where I live there were a lot of posters asking about missing dogs. I see posters about missing cats all the time but I'd never seen any about dogs. There were lots, at about the same time. And all the posters said the dogs had gone missing from their homes. I have a nasty feeling something was going on. Those poor dogs.

This dog stealing thing just got me thinking about what happened when I was a kid. Some weird guy who lived around my neighbourhood stole our cocker spaniel and when my Uncle went around looking for my dog he found it in my neighbours garden... when we approached the guy to collect our dog. He asked for payment! The nerve... he wanted us to buy our dog back! After we made a police report and everything, we found out that he has been stealing other dogs that come wandering around the neighbourhood and selling them to people!!! Some people are just weird!

Hope they find the crazy person that stole your friends pup! :D

Where's my mind? I completely forgot to update you guys on this!

She found Tank and he is back home, safely! She had posted a bunch of missing posters around town with his picture on it and someone had called her and said their neighbor just got a new Bulldog who looked a lot like Tank and urged her to check it out.

She called the police and they escorted her to the home and sure enough the Bulldog was Tank! The man claimed he found the pup at the top of his street but his young children told the police that he had bought him.... The legal end of it hasn't cleared up as the police are still investigating the man but the important thing is that Tank is home with his family and I'm sure his owner has learned a valuable lesson from all of this.
