Wet cat food brands?

So my cat used to eat just dry food. She never liked wet. But now that I learned more, I feed her wet breakfast! And free dry except at night. So she only liked tuna so we bought her tuna flavored, then tuna and whitefish, and so on. Hopefully she will eat this lamb and chicken and all.

First time we just went to the grocery store and got Sheba. Obviously not supreme quality. Now I went to pet club and got a few cans of the following:
Avoderm, several formulas. All grain free. (However with my research so far I'm not sure if ill buy it again. But it looks good.)
1 13 oz can of grain free felidae
Wellness, several formulas

Avoderm seems to have been the most expensive though.... And wellness was less for a bigger can! What's is good? What isn't? Others?

She seems to like small chunks vs. large ones.

Ummm...I read of conflicting opinions on avocado oil, but many cats are also being fed avoderm with no death report and avoderm had been in the market long enough, so I just went ahead to buy. I am feeding the chicken ones just one can a week or so, but it has rice flour and fish in the 4th ingredient list, unless you are looking for grain free and non-fish based food, otherwise it should be safe.

You see, I have a dry food addict. Who is super good at limiting her intake. No fat at all. Super active. She never liked wet food... So I have a hard time believing she will ever want full dry. It's a battle every morning. My family also, they like the dry... I finally switched to a higher quality dry too, instead of petstore brands I have TOTW however, it's not a brand I'd feed to my dog... So ill probably change it once the bag runs out.

It's also earlier for vacations... This is the only cat I've ever had who wasn't in love with wet food.

More animal based protein than fat, limit fish (phosphorus) and minimize carbs basically. Catinfo.org has the PDF file for this. At our house we use only wet food multiple brands and tastes. Nature's Variety, Halo, Merrick, Dave's (cheaper), Wellness, Nature's Logic sometimes Precise, Natural Balance, Tiki, Fussie cat, BFF. The cats seem excited for every mealtime. :)

I was always under the impression that fancy feast wasnt good? Or at least the one at the grocery store...

So I'm hearing that wellness is good?

Do you guys buy a can at a time or in a bulk pack?

Is it better to rotate brands?
Fancy Feast is not the best, but your cat also isn't going to fall over dead from it or anything. It is still balanced in vitamins and minerals.

Wellness is a good food. If you buy the larger tins it's a good price, there's also EVO, Felidae, Holistic Select, Innova, California Natural, First Mate (dog food; same as cat version), Nutrience, Evanger's all come in large tins of food and are a good price for their ingredients; not all are grain free though. I've heard Evanger's chicken version in particular is a good deal.

Buying a few cans at a time is a pain. I'm more stocked up on cat and dog food than human food (ok, not really, but I have a lot of pet food around here). I buy in bulk when there's a sale, the cans have expiration dates a few years from now but even those I roll my eyes at.

Recently I bought about 20 cans of Nutrience when it was on for 1.50 a can (13 oz duck/rabbit version) and I have a lot of Wild Calling left over from their promotional buy 2 get 1 free, a store also has it at 1.99 for their dog food cans so I'm considering stocking up on it again, and I only buy BFF when it goes on sale (1.19 instead of 1.39 for the 5.5 oz cans).

Rotating brands, and companies is a good thing. To give the pets variation is nice for them and can prevent a picky cat... and to switch up the brands; for instance EVO, California Natural and Innova are owned by P&G... if P&G has a recall (or has ongoing ones like they are with their dry food atm) then it would be good to have a back up food that isn't from their company, and also good since if there was something very serious with their food, you at least would not have been feeding their brands exclusively.

I have two hopeless dry kibble addicts so part wet is the best I can do and yes I have read the websites with ways to transition. Right now they are eating a little Wellness chicken but they get tired of any wet and then won't eat any of it. I have to keep changing out what they are eating to keep them eating a little wet. We're about at the end of the line with the Wellness so I'll be getting something else.

I buy mostly in bulk online. Chewy.com has good deal and consistent service. Doggiefood.com has good deals but not as consistent aka shipping and communication can be slow. I buy individual cans usually as impulse buy from the neighborhood store. Their prices are more expensive unless they are running a promo.

I do food rotation so the cats won't get hooked to just one brand or one kind of food. They are not picky at all now... Even the one that used to only eat pate now can eat different textures. In case there is a problem from manufacturer I won't have any problem switching to other brand. Plus there is no perfect food out there. Even wellness a few years ago had a problem of low taurine level in their food that can be dangerous to cats that solely eat wellness for a long period of time. So I figured to minimize the risk, I spread out the risk factors. I stay with the basic principals: high protein, not too high in fat, low phosphorus/no fish, low carbs, low or no grain. I still feed them fish and grain but only once in a while. They can have the bad stuff but they eat mostly the good stuff.

I have a can of felidae. Which no one here has really mentioned? It seems like it's a good price! Grain free, about the same price as wellness, but in a much bigger can so its worth more! I haven't opened it yet though, so I don't know much about it. But my dog eats canidae, and I'm happy with that.

Where do you all buy your foods?

I usually buy from Petco or Petsmart and try to find big cans( though they seem to be hard to find) and a new store in my area called Pet Supplies Plus which carries EVO and many other brands of grain free wet food, they have big cans of Wellness in many flavors, Wellness CORE, EVO, Merricks, and many other good brands. Today I picked up several cans of wet food on sale at Petco.

I feed Weruva most of the time, since it's really the only food I've found so far that all of my cats (the ones who will actually eat wet food anyway) really like. Almost all of the cats that I've given Weruva to absolutely love it! Unfortunately, it's pretty darn expensive, especially when you're feeding it to 5 resident cats, plus a couple of fosters, everyday. I do sometimes switch it up and feed other foods, such as Wellness Core or Natural Balance because I don't want my cats to be so picky, but it seems my girls are already picky--my 2 chunky male cats will usually eat whatever's put in front of them before moving on to whatever was put in front of another cat.

I plan to try Nature's Variety Instinct, I can get it from my stores and they have several flavors. My cat seems to do best when I change up the food flavor often. They have some unique flavors like Rabbit( though Ive heard it comes from China so idk if I will try feeding it to Katniss) and Pork( though is that good for cats?) and I have a variety pack on order with a few flavors from Petfooddirect, she likes most foods Ive tried so Im not too worried.

hmm... Well my cat won't eat whitefish or anything really other than tuna. Today I went back and bought more tuna, so I could mix it with other foods! Right now I ,a aged to get her to eat tuna and chicken mix, I'm trying. The better companies don't even seem to have tuna...

I'm surprised though, because one time my dad accidentally gave her wet dog food DX and she ate it! Oops... I was pretty mad... But I figure, if she will eat the dog food (unwillingly and never again) she should be able to eat any flavor of cat food!
