I just had a question, and I am not sure what the response is going to be, because people have a lot of different opinions on this subject.

I "heard" that feeding wet cat food can cause crystals in your cat's urinary tract or bladder. People tell me that their vet even told them not to feed their cat wet food.

What have people on here heard about wet food? I stopped feeding my cat wet food, mainly because he was getting fat, but also because I heard these "rumours".

Thanks!

I've heard that any foods that contain a high amount of magnesium are bad for a cat's urinary tract. I've also heard that you shouldn't feed your cats "human" tuna because it can give them urinary tract problems.

Yes enough canned food will cause your cat to gain weight but I'm sure that the nutritional value depends on the brand. Although I haven't purchased it yet, I've heard that Wellness is a good brand. I give Barnaby a spoonful of canned food per day as a treat. That's the most he's ever gotten so he doesn't expect more.

It must be hard to wean a cat off the moist food once they are used to it. :(
