This is what I have been using. NORDIC NATURALS :: NORDIC PET They have one for cats and small dogs. I like the unscented liquid. It's the best one I have used, and was recommended on the Little Cat Big Cat website. I just posted an article from that site, about Omega 3's. It's in this forum if you look, and can read it in that thread.

I tried a couple other brands, but I didn't like the results, they just aren't good quality. I know I can get it locally, at a health food store, but it had to be special ordered, but I could pick it up from them. The owner of the store said it's one of the best brands she knows of, and it's good because of the purity in the way they process the oil. I just follow the serving amount on bottle for 2-4 lb cats, it seems to work the best, and I don't have problems with kitties with runny poo.

 

I just feed my kitties a sardine a week. I buy the canned-in-fresh-water, no salt added variety.

 

Its hard to say how much fish oil cats should have. Many different opinions on the matter and I once tried to make sense of it all, in a thread I started. I feel a few drops a day, should suffice. I give about .5ml to my cats every day, or every other day. Though, I also feed sardines so I probably don't really need the oil.

Since you guys are unsure and i'm unsure I'll just stick to canned sardines then...can't go wrong with two or three sardines per week.

 

Been feeding mine raw wild salmon at least once a week, which I hope is enough. I may get some sardines too, and I have Natural Factors Wild Salmon oil capsules. The trouble is with fish oil is that they may need some Vitamin E to go with it. I used to add Vit E to the ground raw meat food I made, just before I switched them to unground raw meats.

All the other meats in their diet are high in Omega 6 fats, because corn and soy are so commonly used as feed these days. Even if it's organic grain fed, that means it's high in Omega 6 PUFAs, and it needs to balance with Omega 3s.
