Ooh, I looked this up before. I had to write a paper about the day I was born in a freshman writing class. It was supposed to teach us how to research stuff.

July 27, 1982 -- Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

I've always liked the song so it made my day to know it was #1 when I was born.

In the US it was Like a Virgin by Madonna 8O , and in the UK it was Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid (I was born in December).

Funny story, though, my parents knew my name would be Emily before I was even born, as it's my mom's middle name. So when I was delivered, the doctor didn't say "It's a girl!", he just said: "It's Emily!". Then, my first night home, my dad laid me on the bed and turned on the little radio and Andy William's "Emily" came crooning through the speakers. *cue Twilight Zone theme* :D

I must be getting old

I must be getting OLD!! The link above only goes back to 1955 for the US. I need to go ALL the way back to 1942 so I did a little searching on my own. The best I could come up with is the Top Hits for the year with how many weeks they made the list.

White Christmas (36)
I Don't Want To Walk Without You (12)
He Wears A Pair Of Silver Wings (15)
There Are Such Things (18)
Deep In The Heart Of Texas (12)
My Devotion (16)
I've Got A Gal In Kalamazoo (11)
Jingle, Jangle, Jingle (14)
Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree (12)
One Dozen Roses (14)
Blues In The Night (13)
Somebody Else Is Taking My Place (12)
Sleepy Lagoon (18)

This is bad.... I have one of the oldest cats in this forum, 19-1/2 years old and now I'm starting to think I'm also the OLDEST MEMBER as well.. LOL LOL

Love Machine (Part 1) by The Miracles

Oh no, is that the one that goes:
"I'm just a love machine, and I won't work for nobody but you
hey, hey
I'm just a love machine"

I can't stand that song...
